The keeper overtook the previous owner of the record of Ladislao Mazurkiewicz, who donned the Uruguayan jersey in the 1966, 1970 and 1974 World Cups. Edinson Cavani, also playing in Russia 2018, tied with Mazurkiewicz and should overtake him on Saturday in his homeland's Round of 16 match against Portugal
