Portuguese invincibles beat Spanish record

With their draw against Iran (1x1), Portugal established a new all-time unbeaten record for a European team in competitive World Cup, Euro and Confederations Cup matches. Cristiano Ronaldo's side hasn't tasted defeat over the last 17 matches - a record that can be extended in Saturday's Round of 16 match against Uruguay.

Portugal's last defeat came in 2014 in Brazil, against Germany (4x0) - the Germans eventually winning the competition. Since then Portugal have won 8 matches and drawn on 9 occasions.

Spain previous held the record of 16 matches unbeaten.
