UD Leiria lose out to AVS

AVS edged out UD Leiria in a close win on Saturday, 1x2, on to matchday 4 of the Portuguese Division Two. Coming into the contest, the equipa da cidade do Liz came from a defeat, and Jorge Costa's team came from a draw.

With 21 minutes on the clock, Bernardo Martins opened the scoring for AVS, with a right-foot shot. After 40 minutes, Bryan Róchez missed the spot-kick.

With 51 minutes on the clock, Nenê struck the second goal for Jorge Costa's team, through a header. Jair da Silva netted the last goal after 67 minutes with a right-foot strike inside the box. In the closing stages of the game, Fernando Fonseca left the game early after seeing a red card.

After the result AVS are 2nd in the table, with 10 points, while UD Leiria sit 10th place, with 4 points. In relation to forthcoming league matches, Jorge Costa's team will play at home against Länk Vilaverdense. Meanwhile, Vasco Botelho da Costa's team will play away against Belenenses.
