Atlético Mineiro crush Botafogo's Copa Sudamericana dreams

Atlético Mineiro edged out Botafogo in a win on Thursday, 2x0, in a match relating to the Last 16 of Copa Sudamericana. Eduardo Barroca's team beat Rodrigo Santana's team, 2x1, in the first leg of the tie.

The first-half ended with a goalless draw.

The first goal of the game was scored by Fábio Santos, from the penalty spot, after 77 minutes.  Vinícius Goes netted the last goal in the closing stages of the game with a right-foot strike from outside the penalty box.

With this result, Atlético Mineiro are through to the next round of the competition. In relation to forthcoming league matches, Rodrigo Santana's team will play at home against La Equidad.
