Aston Villa bounced back to winning ways with a thumping 5-0 success over Sheffield United at Bramall Lane on Saturday evening.
John McGinn gave Villa the lead on 12 minutes when he tapped into an empty net after Ollie Watkins had hit the post, and the visitors never looked back: further goals from Watkins, Leon Bailey and Youri Tielemans giving the Midlanders an unassailable 4-0 lead at half-time.
Any hopes of salvaging something from the contest were quashed for Chris Wilder's side immediately after the break when Watkins stood a cross up to the back post for Alex Moreno to make it 5-0 with a sweet volley.
The second-half was a procession for Villa despite the Blades occasionally creating half-chances for a consolation, Emiliano Martinez notably pulling off an impressive double save and Jake Robinson having a goal disallowed by VAR for offside.
Villa sit fourth in the Premier League, two points clear of Spurs who drew 2-2 at Everton earlier in the day, while Sheffield United are stranded at the foot of the table with just 10 points.
