Real Madrid thrash Girona to move five points clear

Real Madrid extended their lead at the summit of La Liga with a commanding 4-0 win over second-placed Girona at the Bernabeu. 

Despite just a two-point gap between the teams entering the clash, Real Madrid showcased their superiority from minute one.

Vinicius made an early impact, breaking the deadlock in the 6th minute with a superbly executed strike into the far corner. 

Los Blancos continued their offensive dominance, with Federico Valverde testing Girona goalkeeper Paulo Gazzaniga in the 23rd minute.

In the 35th minute, Real Madrid doubled their advantage as Jude Bellingham found the net. Vinicius released the England international, who skillfully rounded the former Spurs keeper to extend the hosts' lead.

Bellingham had an opportunity to add a third just before half-time, but he missed the target from outside the box.

Nevertheless, the former Birmingham City midfielder secured his brace in the 54th minute, converting from close range after Vinicius's initial shot was saved by Girona's goalkeeper.

The fourth goal arrived in the 61st minute courtesy of Rodrygo, who sprinted towards the Girona box and unleashed a precise shot into the far corner, effectively settling the contest. 

Girona struggled to match Real Madrid's dominance, and despite late chances, including a missed penalty by Joselu, the match underscored Real Madrid's position as the frontrunners to clinch the La Liga title.
