Lewis Dunk grabbed a late equaliser as Brighton to salvage a 2-2 drawagainst Liverpool after an exciting match at the AMEX Stadium.
Liverpool, aiming to recover from their controversial defeat to Tottenham in the previous league match, found themselves trailing 20 minutes into the game.
Simon Adingra pounced on a mistake by former Brighton player Alexis Mac Allister, unleashing a precise long-range shot past the off-balance Alisson.
During the first 45 minutes, the visitors struggled significantly but managed to turn things around with a quickfire double in the minutes just before half-time.
Mohamed Salah netted the first goal in the 40th minute, following an exquisite build-up involving Dominik Szoboszlai, Luis Diaz, and Darwin Nunez.
In added time of the first half, Salah put the Reds in front after calmly converted a penalty after Bart Verbruggen and Pascal Gross made errors while playing from the back, with the latter fouling Szoboszlai in the box.
The second half featured a more open contest, with Alisson making an impressive save to deny the lively Adingra up close.
Substitute Ryan Gravenberch came close to put the game to bed midway the second half when he struck the crossbar with an open goal.
As the match neared its conclusion, the Seagulls seized control and levelled deservedly 12 minutes from time when Lewis Dunk powered in Solly March's wicked free kick.
Five minutes from time, the hosts had a chance to take the three points, and it seemed imminent in the 84th minute after Adingra found Joao Pedro unmarked in the box, but the Brazilian leaned back and sent a disappointing shot over the crossbar from an excellent position, squandering a golden opportunity.
This result takess Liverpool to third place in the Premier League table, trailing the leaders Tottenham by three points, pending Manchester City's match against Arsenal.
Meanwhile, Brighton, who suffered a 6-1 loss to Aston Villa in their previous outing, are one point further back in sixth place.
After the international break, Liverpool will host Everton in the Merseyside derby, while Brighton will travel to face Manchester City.
