Game between Villarreal and Espanyol ended in a stalemate

Villarreal and Espanyol drew 2x2 in a match on Sunday, in a game relating to mathweek 22. Before this matchday, Villarreal's team came from a defeat, and Barcelona's team came from three defeats.

After 37 minutes, Vicente Iborra opened the score for Villarreal, from a corner.

With 65 minutes on the clock, Javier Calleja's team increased their lead with a goal from Santi Cazorla from the penalty spot. With this goal, Santi Cazorla recorded his five goal this season.  In an unlucky moment Daniele Bonera scored an own goal in the 75th minute. After 81 minutes, Roberto Rosales netted the final goal of the game, with a left-foot strike, laid on by Óscar Melendo .

After the result Espanyol are 15th in the table, with 25 points, while Villarreal sit 19th place, with 19 points. In their next fixture, Villarreal's team will play away against Valladolid, while Barcelona's team will play at home against Rayo Vallecano.
