Guaraní triumphed over Cerro Porteño in a close win on Saturday, 2x1, relating to matchweek 21 of the Liga Paraguaia Clausura. Coming into the contest, Daniel Garnero's team came from a defeat, and Leonel Álvarez's team came from four wins.
With 17 minutes on the clock, Rodolfo Gamarra opened the scoring for Guaraní, laid on by Hernán Novick. After 32 minutes, Alfio Oviedo struck for Cerro Porteño, laid on by Raul Cáceres.
Hernán Novick netted the last goal with 56 minutes on the clock. In the 65th minute, Leonel Álvarez's team saw Raul Cáceres get a straight red card after 65 minutes, Rodrigo López left the game early after seeing a red card.
After the result Cerro Porteño are 1st in the table, with 42 points, while Guaraní sit 3rd place, with 37 points. With regard to the next fixture, Daniel Garnero's team will play away against General Díaz, whilst Leonel Álvarez's team will host Sol de América.
