Bayern Munich have announced that head coach Thomas Tuchel will leave the club at the end of the season.
There had previously been reports of the Bavarian club looking to replace Tuchel immediately in a bid to revive their Bundesliga title hopes after damaging defeats to leaders Bayer Leverkusen as well as away to VfL Bochum.
Those recent results, sandwiching a 1-0 first-leg loss to Lazio in the Champions League, see the champions now eight points behind undefeated Leverkusen.
Tuchel originally had a contract with Bayern to keep him in charge of the club until the end of the 2024/25 season but now both parties have decided to separate at the end of the current campaign.
"We have agreed that we will end our collaboration after this season," Tuchel said in a statement.
"Until then, I will of course continue to do everything I can with my coaching team to achieve maximum success."
Bayern will be hoping this news re-energises the squad ahead of Saturday evening's clash at home to RB Leipzig.
