Manchester United have officially announced that Raphael Varane will depart the club this summer after completing a three-year stint.
The French defender's contract at Old Trafford is set to expire at the end of the ongoing season. Despite having the option for a one-year extension, United has chosen not to trigger it.
Varane joined Manchester United from Real Madrid in the summer of 2021 for an initial fee of £34 million and during his tenure, he has made a total of 93 appearances for the club.
The 31-year-old defender played a key part in United's Carabao Cup triumph in 2023 under the management of Erik ten Hag, contributing to their victory over Newcastle in the final.
The news of Varane's departure was shared by the player himself through an emotional farewell video posted on his Instagram account.
