Barcelona are reportedly accelerating their pursuit of Sporting manager Ruben Amorim given the interest in the Portuguese from other European clubs including Premier League Liverpool.

According to the Independent, Amorim has risen up the pecking order at Anfield as a potential replacement for the outgoing Jurgen Klopp, particularly after Leverkusen boss Xabi Alonso ruled himself out of the running by confirming he would stay at the Bundesliga club next season.

The Independent article states that, prior to last week, it was believed that Amorim was set to succeed Xavi at Barcelona and that Alonso would join either Liverpool or Bayern Munich.

However, the landscape has changed given Alonso's decision to stay put and Barcelona may now have to vie with Liverpool for Amorim - who guided Sporting to the final of the Portuguese Cup last night.

Interesting, it is understood that Brighton manager Roberto De Zerbi features on an 'expanded list' of candidates for the Liverpool job.

As a football fan, I'm disappointed to hear that Ruben Amorim may not be heading to Barcelona due to interest from Liverpool. He's proven himself at Sporting and would be a great addition to the Premier League.

As a football fan, I'm disappointed to hear that Barcelona are facing competition for Ruben Amorim's signature from Liverpool. It seemed like he was set to join Barca, but with Alonso staying at Leverkusen, things have changed. Sporting fans must be thrilled with his success - final of the Portuguese Cup last night!

Wow, looks like Barcelona are really pushing for Amorim now! Such an exciting time for football fans, but I hope Sporting can hold on to their talented manager.

Wow, this is huge news! Barcelona are really stepping up their game in pursuing Ruben Amorim as their next manager. It's no surprise that other European clubs, like Liverpool, are also interested in him. Amorim's success with Sporting and reaching the Portuguese Cup final only adds to his appeal. It'll be interesting to see who ends up with him, but Barcelona and Liverpool seem to be the top contenders now.
