According to footyinsider’s transfer correspondent, Pete O’Rourke, Luton Town are looking to complete a double deal this week with two Reading defenders undergoing medicals.
The Premier League side look set to take advantage of crisis club Reading with two cut-price deals being agreed over the weekend. Both Tom Holmes and Nelson Abbey are reportedly having medicals ahead of a move to the top-flight.
It is believed that both players would return to Reading on loan until the end of the season with the combined transfer fee remaining undisclosed as of yet.
Reading are in crisis with fan protests continuing against owner Dai Yongge. A pitch invasion in protest of Yongge caused their game with Port Vale in League One at the Leasingcar.com Stadium to be abandoned on Saturday afternoon.
Luton shared a 1-1 draw with Burnley at Turf Moor on Friday evening as The Hatters remain competitive down in the Premier League relegation battle.
The Hatters, under the management of Rob Edwards, spent around £25 million in the summer transfer window and are reportedly keen on adding at least two players in the January window as they attempt to pull off what many would view as a miracle in avoiding relegation this season.
Holmes has made 117 appearances for The Royals since making his debut in 2018, whilst Nelson Abbey is the club’s vice-captain in just his second senior season with the club, making 15 appearances in League One so far.
