Two stoppage-time goals give Spurs comeback win over Sheffield Utd

Tottenham Hotspur pulled off a remarkable comeback with two late goals during injury time to defeat newly-promoted Sheffield United 2-1 on Saturday, maintaining their unbeaten record in the Premier League.

In a tense start, midfielders Yves Bissouma and Pape Sarr both had attempts at goal, but the hosts were unable to break the deadlock.

Sheffield United's goalkeeper Wes Foderingham made a crucial save to deny a curling shot from Son Heung-min in the 21st minute.

Moments later, Guglielmo Vicario blocked a shot from James McAtee, although the offside flag would have saved Spurs from embarrassment in any case.

Foderingham was very busy in the early stages, making his fifth save of the game in just the 27th minute, holding onto Manor Solomon's shot after an initial parry.

Thanks to solid defending and some clever time-wasting, Sheffield United held their ground and managed to take the 0-0 draw into the locker rooms.

In the second half, Spurs grew increasingly frustrated and Blades' keeper faced fewer challenges in the second half, and Ange Postecoglou's team paid the price for their missed opportunities.

In the 73rd minute, the hosts failed to clear a Sheffield United corner properly, leading to a long throw that reached Gustavo Hamer at the back post and the Brazilian's shot, although slightly scuffed, found the net via the post.

As the clock ticked, Postecoglou made offensive substitutions in a desperate attempt to find an equaliser. Debutant Brennan Johnson appeared to have scored in the 87th minute, but he was narrowly offside.

Tottenham were granted an astonishing 12 minutes of added time to mount a comeback and in the eighth minute of injury time, substitute Richarlison met Ivan Perisic's corner with a header to equalise.

There was no celebration from Postecoglou's players as they went in search of a winner. Remarkably, they found it with 100 minutes gone, as Richarlison turned provider to set up Dejan Kulusevski, who struck a fantastic shot into the roof of the net.

Foderingham, who had contributed to the extended match time with his time-wasting tactics, was helpless as the home crowd erupted in joy as Sheffield United's woes were compounded when Oli McBurnie received a late red card.

Tottenham now have a full week to prepare for the upcoming North London derby against Arsenal, while Sheffield United, who are still without a win this season, will host Newcastle United in eight days' time.

Wow what a game! Incredible come from Spurs. The late goals were incredible and really saved the day for them. Great job from both teams, but what really made the difference was Spurs' never-say-die attitude!
