After their crucial midweek win against Liverpool, Manchester City made no mistake in their Third Round FA Cup tie against Rotherham on Sunday - mercilessly racking up a 7-0 win.
Raheem Sterling, Phil Foden, Gabriel Jesus, Riyad Mahrez, Nicolas Otamendi and Leroy Sane were all on the scoresheet for Pep Guardiola's side against the Millers, who also saw Semi Ajayi convert an unfortunate own goal for their freeflowing hosts.
A strong line-up evidenced the fact that Guardiola and City are gunning for silverware on all fronts this season, Kevin De Bruyne captaining a Citizens side that also featured the likes of Ederson, John Stones and Ilkay Gundogan.
Gundogan, in particular, enjoyed his afternoon - finishing the game with an impressive four assists.
Afterwards, defeated Rotherham manager Paul Warne paid tribute to City: “The lads will not be too disheartened by the scoreline. I know it sounds depressing, but Premier League teams come here and get a good licking. We should not be embarrassed about that, it was just that the gulf in class was so great.
I spoke to Pep briefly before the game and said, ‘be gentle’ on the side of the pitch and then after I just shook his hand and said, ‘your team is a joy to watch.’ “A pain to watch would have been more polite.”
