Manchester City secures top spot in Group F

Manchester City sealed top spot in Group F after coming from behind to beat Hoffenheim 2-1, with Leroy Sane scoring twice.

Man City knew they only needed a point to finish top but went behind early when Andrej Kramaric scored from the penalty spot.

However, Sane ensured there’d be no repeat of their defeat to Chelsea on Saturday as he scored a goal either side of the break, one of which was a stunning 30-yard free kick.

The draw for the last 16 of the Champions League will be on December 17 in Nyon and City will face one of Atletico Madrid, Roma, Schalke or Ajax.

Pep Guardiola: «We started flat because Hoffenheim were so demanding about how they attacked the space and physically they were stronger. Then we started to play. But the result is good. We are first… some big, big teams have gone out. Inter Milan are an exceptional team but they are in the Europa League. If one day you sleep a little bit and you will be in the Europa League, so that is why I am so, so glad to be in the last 16.”
