      Back-to-back wins for Wolves

Matt Doherty's stoppage-time header ensured Wolves made it back-to-back wins in the Premier League following a 2-1 win against 10-man Newcastle at St James' Park.

Promoted Wolves, who had beaten Chelsea 2-1 on Wednesday after six games without a win, went ahead in the 17th minute with Diogo Jota's second goal of the week. Newcastle equalised six minutes later when Salomon Rondon, having crashed a free kick against the bar, crossed for Ayoze Perez to score.

Newcastle was reduced to 10 men in the 57th when DeAndre Yedlin lost possession to Jota and pulled him down as the striker looked to be clean through.

Just when it looked as if 10-man Newcastle would hold on for a point, a 94th-minute shot from Jota was pushed into the path of Matt Doherty by Dubravka and he could not miss with a close-range header.

Rafael Benitez: "Losing is always something you don't want or expect, but in a game where you were controlling... you see this incident, the red card, and then the elbow in the face of Ayoze (which should have been) a penalty and red card. I saw the replay (of the sending off) and we need VAR right now."

Nuno Espirito Santo: "I think we didn't do the best of performances. In the second half everything changes with the red card of Newcastle, we control the game. And we had more possession. Trying to find a way is not so easy to unblock a team with one man less. We were lucky in the end, we had chances before, but in the last minute to get a second ball from the goalkeeper. We were lucky, but happy of course."
