West Ham ruin Sarri's perfect start

Chelsea dropped points for the first time this season on Sunday, drawing 0-0 against West Ham United at London Stadium to leave them two points adrift of Premier League leaders Liverpool.

Needing a two-goal win to depose Liverpool at the top of the table, Chelsea struggled to make clear chances despite having the majority of possession and stayed third behind the Merseysiders and champions Manchester City.

The home side could have punished them, but Michail Antonio, who was deputising for the injured Marko Arnautovic, missed two first-half chances and Andriy Yarmolenko headed wastefully wide.

After four defeats West Ham have now picked up four points from their past two games.

Manuel Pellegrini: “Today we had three real chances to win the game. We played a very good tactical game because we allowed them to have the possession, but they didn’t create too many chances. When you have those clear chances, you must score.”

Maurizio Sarri: “I don't know where you take the statistics of the match but, in my statistics, we had seven opportunities against their three. Maybe we could have done better in the last 25 minutes of the first half. Then, I think that we have played very well... well in the second half, generally, but very well in the last 25 minutes. It's impossible to win every match. So it's OK, one point, for today.”
