Sadio Mane netted the winning penalty as Senegal beat Egypt 4-2 on penalties to clinch their first-ever Africa Cup of Nations after a 0-0 draw.
The game got off in a very dramatic way as Senegal were awarded a penalty with just four minutes on the clock, after Saliou Ciss was taken down in the box by Mohamed Abdelmonhem.
From the spot, Liverpool's Sadio Mane had the opportunity to put his country in front, but his penalty was well saved by Mohamed Abougabal.
Egypt goalkeeper Abougabal ended it up being the man of the match, after denying Senegal a hand of good chanced to win the game in the first 90 minutes.
Neither side could break the deadlock in in normal time. Both sides were also close to finding a winner at the end of extra-time, but they could not be separated.
A tense penalty shootout saw three misses, including two for Egypt, with Chelsea goalkeeper Edouard Mendy making a fourth-round save to hand Senegal the advantage, and Sadio Mane converting the winning spot kick.
After finishing runners-up in 2002 and 2019, Senegal won their first AFCON title in their history.
