Portsmouth promoted as League One champions

Portsmouth came from behind twice to beat Barnsley 3-2 and secure promotion to the Championship, ending their 12-year absence from the second tier.

After Devante Cole gave the visitors an early lead in the sixth minute, but just three minutes later Kusini Yengi equalised for Portsmouth. However, John McAtee put the Tykes ahead again after half-time.

Devante Cole’s early opener for the visitors was quickly cancelled out by Kusini Yengi, only for John McAtee to strike after the break.

Substitute Colby Bishop levelled the score with seven minutes remaining from the penalty spot. In the dying moments of the game, Conor Shaughnessy's header from a corner secured the victory, promotion, and the league title for Portsmouth. 

With two games remaining, they have been crowned League One champions, holding an eight-point lead over second-placed Derby County.

Meanwhile, Bolton had to come from behind twice to salvage a 2-2 draw against Shrewsbury Town, dealing a blow to Bolton Wanderers' aspirations of securing automatic promotion.

Elsewhere, Fleetwood Town's hopes of staying in League One hang by a thread after missing two penalties in a heavy 4-1 defeat at Peterborough United.
