Middlesbrough are looking to sign Rotherham United midfielder Daniel Barlaser before the end of the January transfer window according to The Northern Echo.
Barlaser was a major part of Rotherham’s promotion to the Championship last season and so far this year he has scored twice and assisted seven times in the second tier for the Millers.
However, the 25-year-old’s contract expires at the end of the season and it is not believed that he will be renewing with the club.
Michael Carrick’s Middlesbrough are keen on the player with the only obstacle currently being the sell-on clause that Rotherham would have to pay to Barlaser’s former club Newcastle United – believed to be 40% of any transfer fee.
With Boro having reportedly offered £900,000 for the player already that would mean Rotherham would receive just £540,000.
