Harry Kane set a Bundesliga record for most hat-tricks in a debut season with a treble against Mainz on Saturday.
The England forward weighed in with his trio of strikes as Bayern thumped their relegation-threatened opponents 8-1 to cut Bayer Leverkusen's lead at the top of the table to seven points.
Kane tapped in the opening goal to get the ball rolling with Leon Goretzka adding a second after the England striker's shot had rebounded off the post.
Mainz grabbed a goal back, but Kane struck again before half-time to make it 3-1.
After the interval, goals from Thomas Muller, Jamal Musiala and Kane - to seal his hat-trick - blew Mainz away, with Goretzka adding an eighth in injury time to complete the rout.
Kane now has 30 Bundesliga goals in 25 games this season, and he also claimed a wonderful assist for Musiala's goal.
Bayern will now watch with interest as leaders Leverkusen host Wolfsburg on Sunday.
