Chelsea have officially confirmed the appointment of Christopher Vivell as their new Technical Director, following a fairly long recruitment process.
Vivell joins the west London club after leaving RB Leipzig in October 2022, having worked in a couple of different positions with the German club. The man who turned 36 last year was Head of Scouting for five years with Red Bull Salzburg between 2015 and 2020.
In that time, the Austrian champions were consistently remarked upon for their impressive talent identification, most notably signing Erling Braut Haaland from Molde.
He has also worked in several different roles at 1899 Hoffenheim, where he began his career in football in 2010 at the age of just 23.
Todd Boehly has been searching for someone to fill the Technical Director role and, alongside a lot of Brighton’s former recruitment staff, Chelsea will be confident of building an impressive team in the years to come.
