Gareth Southgate has included Leicester City’s James Justin and West Ham’s Jarrod Bowen in the latest England squad.
The Three Lions return to action with four UEFA Nations League games, starting with Hungary in Budapest on the 4th of June and a trip to Munich to face Germany on the 7th of June. Those games come before two games at Molineux starting with a rematch of the 2020 final with Italy on the 11th of June and then hosting Hungary on the 14th of June.
As well as the inclusion of Justin and Bowen in the squad, Kieran Trippier, Kyle Walker, and Serie A-winning defender Fikayo Tomori all return. But there are no places for Jordan Henderson, James Maddison, Emile Smith Rowe, Eric Dier, or Tyrone Mings.
According to Southgate, Bowen was likely to get a call up in March but missed out due to injury. The manager was also full of praise for the West Ham man: "He is a goal threat and he is direct. His journey is really interesting in terms of the experiences he has had.
"It's a reminder you don't have to be at an elite academy and come through that pathway. Coming through the lower divisions is also a great route he worked incredibly hard for the team. He has thoroughly deserved his call up."
