Ashley Cole has joined Frank Lampard’s coaching team at Everton, reuniting the two former Chelsea players once again.
Cole retired from football in 2019 as a Derby County player while Frank Lampard was managing the Rams. The former left-back then stayed on at the club as a coach before following Lampard to Chelsea.
Most recently, Cole was appointed as Lee Carsley’s assistant for the England U21 team – a job he combined with his Chelsea role.
The former England player was happy to join the Toffees: “I was thrilled when Frank asked me to join him at Everton. This is a brilliant opportunity with a fantastic club and I am coming here to work hard and try to help bring success to Everton.
“The chance to link up again with Frank was another huge draw. He is an excellent manager and leader. With the rest of the staff here, we have everything in place for what we want to achieve together.”
Frank Lampard will guide Everton for the first time on Saturday when they take on Bradford City in the FA Cup at Goodison Park.
