Manchester United won their third Premier League game in a row with a dramatic late 2-1 victory over Aston Villa at Villa Park.

Action: The game started at a high intensity and fast pace. Despite the initial chaos, Manchester United quickly asserted control and took a deserved lead in the 17th minute.

Harry Maguire, who had already showcased his dominance in set pieces, once again used his imposing stature and headed a corner from Bruno Fernandes into the six-yard box, where Rasmus Hojlund was well placed to guide the ball into the net.

Villa responded positively to falling behind, with John McGinn attempting a powerful 20-yard strike in the 24th minute, but Andre Onana made a crucial save by getting his fingertips to the ball.

The United shot-stopper continued his strong performance by thwarting Ollie Watkins in a one-on-one situation just moments later, denying Villa an equalizer and frustrating the home crowd.

At halftime, Ten Hag made a defensive adjustment, substituting Luke Shaw and deploying Victor Lindelof as an emergency left-back.

In the second half's early moments, Watkins had a close-range attempt saved by Onana after a cross from the left.

Despite Onana's efforts, the hosts managed to level as Douglas Luiz swept home a cross from Leon Bailey that deflected off Fernandes.

Despite Villa's dominance in the second half, the Red Devils secured the crucial three points in the 86th minute.

Substitute Scott McTominaycapitalised on a superb Dalot delivery, outmuscling Matty Cash to power home his seventh Premier League goal of the season.

Onana, who had a standout performance, made two more comfortable saves to secure victory. He held onto a long-range header from Watkins in the 89th minute and demonstrated strong handling to block Cash's attempt during the six minutes of added time.

Big Picture: With this result, Man Utd stay in sixth place but are now five points behind fifth-placed Aston Villa and six behind fourth-placed Tottenham in the race for the Champions League places.

Next up, Unai Emery's men will make a trip to London where they'll face Fulham on Saturday, whereas Erik ten Hag's men will travel to Kenilworth Road to face Luton Town next Sunday.

Man of the Match: André Onana - The Cameroon international delivered one of his best performances in a Man Utd shirt, making a series of fantastic saves to thwart Villa from scoring throughout the game.

xG: Aston Villa (2.68) 1-2 (1.99) Man Utd

Stat of the Day: Hojlund became the second-youngest player in Premier League history to score in five consecutive matches at the age of 21, trailing only behind Nicolas Anelka's feat at Arsenal when he was 19.

The Red Devils maintained their lead going into halftime, but Villa came out with renewed energy in the second half. They dominated possession and created multiple chances, but were unable to find a breakthrough.

As the game went into the final minutes, it seemed like Manchester United would hold on for the win. However, in the 87th minute, Villa was awarded a controversial penalty after a handball by Victor Lindelof in the box.
