West Ham United claimed a vital 1-0 victory over Manchester United at the London Stadium, breaking their three-game losing streak and significantly improving their chances of avoiding relegation from the Premier League.
A costly error from Manchester United's goalkeeper, David de Gea, was exploited by Said Benrahma, whose relatively weak shot somehow found its way past the Spanish goalkeeper and into the net, securing a crucial three points for the Hammers.
The visitors started the game strongly, with Bruno Fernandes and Antony both coming close to scoring in the early minutes.
With 18 minutes played, Erik ten Hag's men kept pressing and went close to take the lead when Marcus Rashford hit the base of the post.
However, it was the hosts, who took the lead, after David de Gea failed to stop Said Benrahma's rather weak shot, which crept into the back of the net.
The first half ended controversially, with Victor Lindelof appearing to handle the ball in the box. Despite calls for a penalty, the VAR decided not to award a penalty.
West Ham continued to put the pressure on United in the second half, with Michail Antonio and Lucas Paqueta both coming close to scoring.
The Hammers had a second goal ruled out as Tomas Soucek's header was disallowed for offside, but it did not stop the home team from dominating the rest of game.
Man Utd failed to create clear chances in the final minutes and West Ham held firm their 1-0 lead to claim a vital win towards their bid for survival.
West Ham's victory has lifted them to 37 points in the Premier League tanle, creating a comfortable seven-point gap between them and the relegation zone, while the Red Devils team remains in fourth place, but their advantage over fifth-placed Liverpool, who have played an additional game, has been reduced to a mere point.
Manchester United's next league match is at home against Wolvers on Saturday, while West Ham's focus will shift to the Europa Conference League as they will host AZ Alkmaar at the London Stadium for the first leg of their semi-final on Thursday.
