Manchester United secured a thrilling win over Brighton in a nail-biting penalty shoot-out following a goalless draw over 120 minutes at Wembley Stadium, paving the way for a thrilling FA Cup derby final against Manchester City.

The game started evenly, with neither team having significant chances. However, Julio Enciso came close to scoring for Brighton, hitting a loose ball on the edge of the box, which went just wide.

As the first half progressed, Brighton began to dominate possession and push Manchester United back into their own half.

This dominance continued into the second half, with the Seagulls spending the first 10 minutes in and around United's box.

David de Gea made a good save from Enciso, and Danny Welbeck missed a free header from six yards that he should have scored.

In response to Brighton's performance, Manchester United made a change, bringing on Fred for Christian Eriksen. ´

The Red Devils gradually grew into the game, and Antony had their first chance of the second half, but his effort went straight at Robert Sanchez.

The game remained goalless after 90 minutes, and extra time was needed. However, both teams struggled to create clear-cut chances, and the match became scrappy.

The match was ultimately decided by penalties, with both teams scoring their first five spot kicks perfectly.

In sudden death, Adam Webster and Wout Weghorst scored again, but Solly March missed his penalty, and Victor Lindelof kept his cool to secure Man Utd's place in their second cup final of the season.

Big Picture: United's win means that they will now face their local rivals, Manchester City, in the final. The two teams will battle it out at Wembley on June 3.

Manchester United, who have won the FA Cup 12 times in the past, are now chasing a cup double after their earlier victory in the League Cup back in February.

Both teams will now shift their focus back to the Premier League. Erik ten Hag's men will be taking on Tottenham, one of their top-four rivals, on Thursday, while Roberto De Zerbi's side will be facing Nottingham Forest on Wednesday.

xG: Brighton (1.22) 0-0 (0.84) Man Utd [After 90 minutes]

Stat of the Day: For only a third time in the club’s history, Manchester United have reached the final of both the League Cup and FA Cup in the same season - also doing so in 1982-83 and 1993-94.
