United come from behind to beat nine-man Fulham

Manchester United have booked their spot in the semi-finals of the FA Cup after a 3-1 win over nine-man Fulham at Old Trafford.

The first half was a very even contest as both sides created chances with Wout Weghorst and Issa Diop coming the closest to score.

The visitors came out strong in the second half and took the lead five minutes after second half when Diop flicked on a corner and Aleksandar Mitrovic was in the right place to tap home.

Mitrovic was close to double the lead for the Cottagers 15 minutes later only to be denied by a great David De Gea save.

As it looked Fulham had the game under control, things changed in a couple of minutes after a handball incident 20 minutes from time.

Jadon Sancho's shot was blocked by Willian's arm and the referee Chris Kavanagh initially gave a corner, but VAR advised the official to check the pitchside monitor and during those moments, manager Marco Silva was sent off.

The Brazilian was adjudged to have handled the ball on the goalline and was sent off. During the incident, Mitrovic lost his cool and was also sent off for barging into referee.

After everyone calmed down, Bruno Fernandes had the chance to take the penalty and tucked home the equaliser.

Marcel Sabitzer then completed the comeback two minutes later, converting from close range with an excellent flick after Luke Shaw had picked out the Austrian inside the box.

Fernandes sealed the semi-final spot in stoppage-time with an emphatic finish.

United will face Brighton & Hove Albion at Wembley Stadium in the semi-finals, with rivals Manchester City facing Championship side Sheffield United.

Next up, Man United wil travel to Newcastle United in the Premier League on April 2, while Fulham will continue their league season away to Bournemouth on April 1.
