Liverpool are interested in signing Twente forward, Luuk de Jong, in the summer transfer window, his agent has revealed.
According to Louis Laros, the agent of the 21-year-old player, the Anfield Road side, as well as several other clubs are targeting the services of De Jong, who has been in good form this season, scoring 23 goals in 30 Eredivisie appearances.
“Liverpool are closely monitoring Luuk,” Laros told Voetbal International.
“But there are at least 15 more teams who are after him. Three big teams that have qualified for the Champions League preliminaries have told us that they are ready to open talks with Twente.”
“We will keep our eyes and ears open in the next few weeks. Luuk is feeling very well at Twente, but if the club fails to qualify for Europe, staying put is a less attractive option.”
De Jong’s current deal with Twente is due in the summer of 2014, but an offer in the region of £12.2m could lure him to leave his club and move elsewhere.
