EUL: Metalist eliminate Olympiakos, while Schalke hammer Twente

Klaas-Jan Huntelaar was decisive in Schalke’s qualification to the Europa League quarter-finals stage, with a perfect hat-trick that was enough to eliminate Twente, who had won the first leg, 1-0. Meanwhile, Metalist are also through with a 1-2 victory over Olympiakos, in Greece.

At the Veltins Arena, Schalke did not enter being the best team on the field, as Tewnte scored the first goal of the match, in the 14^th minute, with the signature of Janssen.

In Greece, Metalist managed to eliminate Olympiakos and also qualify to the Europa League’s quarter-finals, as a 1-2 victory on Thursday evening, surpassed their 0-1 home defeat, in the first-leg of the eighth-finals tie.

However, the hosts reached the score at first thanks to a 15^th minute Marcano goal. But the Ukrainian managed to recover from that disadvantage, in the finals minutes of the game, as went through to the quarter finals after Villagra’s equalizer, at 81’ and an 86^th minute goal from Devic.
