New Chelsea signing Christian Pulisic is set to join up with his team-mates for the first time since joining the Blues in January.
The USA international finalised his £58m move to Stamford Bridge at the turn of the year, but was loaned back to previous club Borussia Dortmund for the remainder of the season.
Involved in the Gold Cup for the US this summer, Pulisic was scheduled to be on holiday this week, but has cut his holiday short to join up with Chelsea's pre-season tour of Japan.
The forward whet the appetites of Blues' fans at the Gold Cup with some outstanding performances, and also weighed in with three goals and three assists. Despite the US losing to Mexico in the final, Pulisic was subsequently named the Young Player of the tournament.
Speaking about Pulisic, new Chelsea boss Frank Lampard said that he could understand the player's reasons for joining up with the squad earlier than scheduled.
"It is how I would have been [coming back from holiday early]. It is a huge move for him to a big club and he is a top young player who will only go one way.
"It was important we start the season as well as we can. I know we have injuries but we will need him. I have not met him, I have spoken to him, but it is a good impression."
