Spanish goalkeeper Iker Casillas has been given a coaching role at Porto, as he continues his recovery from a heart attack suffered two months ago.
The Primeira Liga club have stated that Casillas' new position will be to ""ensure the connection between the players, the coach and management".
The World Cup winner suffered "an acute myocardial infarction" during a training session in May, but still reported for pre-season training on 1 July.
Speaking after his new role was announced, Casillas said:
"I will try to do my best to help my team-mates. The manager (Sergio Conceiçao) talked to me last season when my situation happened and he told me that he wanted me to stay with them, close to the players, near the younger players, because there would be a lot of changes."
The former Real Madrid goalkeeper, who joined Porto back in 2015, made 31 Primeira Liga appearances last season as Porto finished second in the league.
He made 725 appearances for Real, helping them win three Champions Leagues and five La Liga titles.
He was also captain of the Spanish teams that won three consecutive major championships: the Euros in 2008 and 2012, and the World Cup in 2010.
