Oldham Athletic's new boss Paul Scholes was always good for a few goals a season - and so are most of the players he has inherited at Boundary Park

The Latics may be upper mid-table (11th) in League Two at the moment, but they have had EIGHTEEN different goal scorers in the fourth tier already in 2018/19 - no top 4 tier team has more (although League One Scunthorpe United have also had 18 players find the net).

It may take a while, but here is every Oldham player to get his name on the scoresheet in League Two this season: Sam Surridge (8 goals in total), Callum Lang (7), Chris O'Grady (6), Gevaro Nepomuceno (4), Ishmael Miller (3), José Baxter (3), Mohamed Maouche (3), Johan Branger (3), Peter Clarke (3), Thomas Haymer (2), Dan Gardner (2), Zak Dearnley (1), Urko Vera (1), Jonathan Benteke (yes, brother of Christian! 1), Jordan Lyden (1), Christ Missilou (1), Robert Hunt (1) and George Edmundson (1). Phew.

Interestingly, Sam Surridge - still the Latics' top scorer this season, despite having returned to Bournemouth after his loan spell, has the best minutes-per-goal ratio of any player to play 15+ League Two games this season: 128mpg. 

Although their goals have been shared around, Oldham's collective goalscoring threat is considerable, and the Latics are one of only 7 teams to score 50+ League Two goals this season. This Saturday, however, they face the division's most prolific outfit, Scholes' men making the short journey to take on second-placed Bury, who have hit 63 league goals so far this term and who boast (along with Lincoln) the best goal difference in the league (+24).
