Injury to Harry Kane potentially spelled disaster for Tottenham's season - but the effervescent form of Son Heung-Min is proving the perfect antidote to losing their captain and talisman.
Son struck again last night in Spurs' 3-0 Champions League last-16 victory over Borussia Dortmund: breaking the deadlock with a very tidy finish to lay the foundations for a stunning win at Wembley. Late goals from Jan Vertonghen and Fernando Llorente have put Mauricio Pochettino's men firmly in the driving seat ahead of the return leg in Germany on 5 March.
Amazingly, given his current form, Son didn't score in his first 9 games for Spurs this season...but once he opened his account with a double versus West Ham in the EFL Cup he simply has not looked back. In fact, the South Korean has outscored EVERY Premier League player, across domestic and European competition, from then on. The West Ham game was fittingly played on Halloween night, and Son has been scaring opposition defences silly ever since.
Son now has 16 goals across all competitions in 2018/19: 11 in the Premier League, 3 in the EFL Cup, 1 in the FA Cup and, now, 1 in the Champions League.

With Kane and Dele Alli on their way back from injury, Tottenham look to have weathered the storm after crashing out of both the FA Cup and the EFL Cup in late January. After a week's break, Spurs return to action in the Premier League on 23 February at home to Burnley, a game that will be followed by two mouthwatering London derbies against Chelsea and Arsenal.
Still in the hunt in the Premier League and the Champions League, there is plenty to play for for Tottenham - who will hope Son can keep outscoring the likes of Premier League peers like Sergio Aguero and Mo Salah for the remainder of the season.
