Eriksen keeps Tottenham alive

Tottenham kept their Champions League campaign alive thanks to Christian Eriksen’s winner as they beat Inter Milan 1-0 at Wembley.

Spurs needed the win to retain any hope of emerging from Group B into the last 16 and for long spells it looked like their ambitions would flounder on the rock of the Italian side's resilient defence.

Harry Winks struck the bar and Jan Vertonghen headed wide as Spurs pressed but it took the introduction of Eriksen to make the crucial breakthrough as he was the beneficiary of good work by Moussa Sissoko and Dele Alli to score at the far post with 10 minutes left.

The result means that Spurs, who go to already qualified Barcelona in the final Group B game, need to match or better Inter's result against PSV to qualify.

Mauricio Pochettino: “We have a big respect for Barcelona - one of the best teams in Europe. It will be so tough, but we have belief that we can win. We must show our great levels and to be at our best. We need to have fresh legs and mind, no injuries. We need to manage and rotate the squad. I expect them to play with their best players. I don't know how they'll prepare for the game. We need to prepare in the best way. No one is going to give you a present in the Champions League - it will be very competitive.”
