When it comes to goals and assists, there is one golden duo sending shockwaves through English football. Peterborough United's Marcus Maddison and Jack Marriott have been involved in more goals, across the top 4 tiers, than any other players - leaving even the likes of Liverpool's Mohamed Salah in their wake. It is no surprise, therefore that the League One outfit may choose to cash in on the star pairing during the winter transfer window.
The duo complement each other perfectly: Maddison supplying the assists (18), though he has still managed to find the net 9 times himself, and Marriott (23 goals and 3 assists) finding the net with unerring regularity.

Peterborough's dream team were unsurprisingly centre stage in Posh's triumph over Championship side Aston Villa in the FA Cup. The Blues went to Birmingham and beat Villa 1x3 on their own patch, recovering from a 1x0 deficit at half-time. Marriott scored two goals, while Maddison assisted twice - showing they can cause higher-level opponents, like John Terry, serious problems.
Both players should be back in action tomorrow, as Posh take on Oldham Athletic at the ABAX Stadium.
Could tomorrow's game be something of a farewell? On the back of his recent exploits, Marriott has been strongly linked to Leeds United in the winter transfer window - and some fans of the northern giants are urging the club to make it a "dream January" by adding Maddison into the equation. A few more goals and assists will be sure to drive up the price tag of football's hottest current duo.
